Five Reasons Yoga and Mindfulness Should Be Apart of Child Development

Yoga develops children’s strength and flexibility. Yoga helps strengthen children’s growing bodies and helps them improve their flexibility, which can reduce their chance of injury in the future.
2. Self-esteem and Confidence Building
Yoga promotes positivity and learning how to take care of one’s body and mind. Teaching kids how to practice yoga is a way of teaching them about appreciating who they are and the homes they carry with them: their bodies.
3. Helps in releasing stress
Yoga not only focuses on physical health but also concentrates on mental health. Life after COVID 19 has been stressful on all of us. Grief

can cause children to suffer from stress and anxiety. Practicing yoga can help little ones release the stress and anxiety that one might be going through.
4. Yoga teaches children to breathe intentionally: When we breathe deeply and fully (deep belly breathing) and become more aware, we can bring peacefulness or energy to our bodies. Helping to self soothe and regulate the nervous system.
5. Promotes a Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset
Working towards postures you can't do YET will help children gain confidence as they accomplish new postures and enhance balance and flexibility.
